"Over the years, the people I met in college and grad school, my teachers and mentors, the staff and students I've worked with — they have become more than friends. They are a part of my family. And my family has taught me so much about faith and God, gratitude and community, hope and resilience, vocation and love. If I can give to Notre Dame even just a fraction of what has been given to me, then this ministry will be successful in all the ways that matter."

Biography

Jay Verzosa serves in the Philip J. and Kathryn K. Faccenda Endowed Rectorship at Alumni Hall. Born and raised in Baltimore, Jay Verzosa spent the most formative years of his adult life in Boston and Philadelphia. Before coming to Notre Dame, Jay served for several years in Campus Ministry developing and directing retreats, advising service immersion trips, and helping students find their voice and discover a sense of home. Hospitality and generosity are central to who Jay is as a person and some of his favorite ministries have been with student-athletes and faith sharing groups. His students' favorite moments with him are probably sharing authentic conversation and making food together. Educated in Catholic schools from kindergarten through graduate school, Jay is a three-time graduate of Boston College, earning his Bachelor's degree in English and Philosophy, as well as Master's degrees in both Counseling Psychology and Pastoral Ministry. In addition to his ministry with college students, Jay has an affinity for serving those struggling with hunger and homelessness, and he thinks of Saint Francis Inn, a soup kitchen in Philadelphia, as a second home.
