Rectors have a pivotal role in the Notre Dame’s mission to nurture a community where students grow spiritually, thrive socially, and succeed academically.
Take a closer look.
Educating Minds and Hearts PDF
The heart of the Notre Dame experience is its residence life, and Notre Dame rectors make that experience unique, formative, and cherished.
With the vision and leadership of rectors, students experience a residence life unique to Notre Dame. Students become life-long friends, and residence halls become communities of faith and learning, where students discover how to integrate and live out the intellectual, spiritual, and social dimensions of their education.
Rectors include priests and brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross—the founding order of the University—women and men from other religious orders, and single lay women and men.
Working with hall staffs, other student life professionals, and the wider University community, Notre Dame rectors help the University achieve its mission to bring young men and women to completeness, educating their minds and hearts to be a force for good in the world.
