Br. Dennis Gunn, CFC

Biography

Br. Dennis Gunn, CFC is a native New Yorker, born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island. He entered the Congregation of Christian Brothers, professing final vows in 2000. He has served the mission of Catholic education for over thirty years, having taught at every level from elementary, to secondary, to higher education in a variety of places, including New York City, Boston, Tampa, Florida, Jackson, Mississippi, and Lima, Peru. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from Iona College summa cum laude, a Master’s degree in Religious Education from Boston College, and a Ph.D. in Religious Education from Fordham University. He has spent the past ten years working in the field of Catholic higher education ministering to students at Iona College and Fordham University where he discovered a passion for mentoring young adults in their formative college years. He has been involved with campus ministries as a retreat director, presenter, and moderator of both domestic and international mission trips. And he has served as chaplain to various sports teams. He enjoys researching and writing about topics in the history and philosophy of education, especially Catholic education. He also enjoys taking long walks, watching movies, and visiting art and history museums with friends.
