Beatrice Comty-Charnock

Biography

Beatrice Comty-Charnock was born in Scotland and raised in London, England; Montreal, Canada; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended Carleton College and received an honors (summa cum laude) degree in political science and foreign studies from the University of Minnesota. After working as an assistant press secretary on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., raising a family in Virginia, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, Beatrice owned and operated a Culver’s restaurant for eight years before attending graduate school and receiving a M.A. in psychology from Adler Graduate School. Beatrice worked as a marriage and family therapist and drug and alcohol counselor for 11 years, with seven of those years in her own psychotherapy practice in Brainerd, MN. Before arriving at Notre Dame, Beatrice served in various ministries in her church community: lector; Schola Choir; Sisters-in-Christ; FUSE; and Eucharistic Adoration, and started a Grandparent Ministry. Beatrice was professed as a Secular Franciscan 3rd Order in June 2024. Beatrice has five sons – four of whom attended Notre Dame – and 14 grandchildren. Beatrice loves traveling, hiking, singing, meeting people, and attending daily mass.
