Sharing Life

Fr. Bob Loughery, C.S.C. values the time he spends with the young men of Sorin College. Rectors are partners in mission with the Congregation of Holy Cross. Through a ministry of presence and investment in student's lives, they fulfill Fr. Moreau's vision that the "the mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart."

This Could Be You If...

" are willing to share life with students in this very unique ministry.  It is an opportunity to have a meaningful role in their lives, in their spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and personal development." -- Fr. Bob Loughery, C.S.C., Rector, Sorin College

Why Notre Dame? Why rector?

After many years of pastoral ministry, I wanted to work with young adults.  As a Notre Dame graduate, I was drawn to work at the University.  The role of a rector is well suited for the ministry I wanted to pursue.  I live with the students of Sorin Hall, in both a pastoral and administrative role.

Experiences that prepared you for this ministry?

I believe the variety of pastoral work I have done--parish ministry, service to the poor, campus ministry, and co-directing a post grad service program---brings a unique perspective and knowledge to my role.

Describe the Community at ND:

I believe for the students, it is one of the most important aspects of their Notre Dame experience.  It was for me.  Creating, supporting, and nurturing the life of a community in a residence hall is one of the hallmarks or our mission.
